You took me back to the day I was tasked with filling out a U.S. Census form, and was faced with the instructions to ‘pick’ a race for my children. I could write an entire tale about this, but I'll just say that I returned that census form with a note stating that I object to this practice. People come in more than one flavor mix, and to be forced to ‘pick one’ is just wrong.
Note: Today’s U.S. Census form does not ask us to ‘pick one’.
Racism colors all aspects of American life. Racists are trying to gain more power and control in today’s America. They are trying to remove the few gains Black people have made in this country. But questions about race on the census are not necessarily racist. The census serves to give information to the government about the country itself. It reveals information about poverty unfairness health of the population, educational attainment etc. Much of what we know about racial disparities are revealed by study of the census. A long form census might ask educational attainment, type of employment, car, home or computer ownership, etc. In a country with racial disparities enforced locally this is useful information for the federal government to have.
Well said Ronke.

I'm really glad things have changed. I feel they should remove the race question completely. It really doesn't matter
They are caught up in Hitler’s desire for pure Aryan blood.
