This is horrifying. Thanks for bringing this awful darkness it to light to spare more non-consensual victims. If only we had the AI to find the perpetrators before they cause harm.
Something we’re missing here is the root issue which is that there are people (mostly men) who get off on this crap. The man sentenced in the UK said he did for kicks. What is wrong with our society that there are enough people out there who WANT to see such disgusting images? Where does that stem from? How do we raise our children to not grow up into such monsters? I mean, there have always been deviants… but man, we seem to have reached the pinnacle of deviancy.
Yes, these are all good questions. I have no answers, I have such a hard time wrapping my head around this. Have we always been like this as humans? Is it just becoming visible due to the internet or is technology causing this?
Thank you Ali. At this point I'm starting to feel Technology is making our lives worse and worse. Despite always having loved the digital realm I'm starting to think we should turn it all off for a while and have discussion about where we want to go as a society

Yes. Its such a dark story really. I've seen reports that some of the people sending pictures were relatives
I wish AI could finally do something useful for us but so far it's just causing more issues

Brilliant piece Ronke. This is terrifying. But a stark reminder to folk not to share images of their children, or children in their lives online.

Wouldn’t it be amazing to turn it all off for a while, breathe and reassess!
Turn the Internet off holy crap. I stopped using social media and sharing photos of ours a few years ago now and I don't have any regrets.
